Looking back, it's almost funny.

Nobody had much money.

Nobody had a new car.

Nobody had the latest phone.

Nobody had a vacation home.

Most of us were drinking a soda we bought with spare change and hanging around a convenience store parking lot because there wasn't anywhere else to go.

And yet...

Those nights somehow became some of the best memories of our lives.

Because happiness had very little to do with what we owned.

It had everything to do with who we were with.

The conversation was better.

The laughter was louder.

The friendships felt permanent.

And the future seemed a million miles away.

Maybe that's why so many people miss those days.

Not because we had more.

Because we needed less.
