Stay safe everyone! Our area has already been hit hard, it's time to prepare for round two.

Stay today folks!! All of the ingredients will be in place for a potentially major severe weather outbreak across much of Western, Central and Northern Minnesota. Storms are expected to rapidly intensify after initiation and produce Strong tornadoes (EF2+ possible), Baseball size hail, and hurricane force winds. It is absolutely crucial you have multiple ways to receive NWS alerts this afternoon.

...Severe thunderstorms expected over parts of the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest today...

* LOCATIONS...
Western Minnesota
Southeastern North Dakota
Eastern South Dakota

* HAZARDS...
-Widespread damaging winds, some hurrican force
- Several tornadoes, a few intense
- Scattered large hail, some baseball size

* SUMMARY...
Numerous severe thunderstorms are forecast across parts of the Northern Plains and Upper Mississippi Valley southward into the central Plains today into tonight. Large to giant hail, 60-80 mph gusts, and tornadoes are probable, including the possibility for a couple of intense long-track tornadoes.

Preparedness actions...

Review your severe weather safety procedures for the possibility of dangerous weather today. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio, weather.gov, or other media for watches and warnings. A watch means that conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms over the next several hours. If a severe thunderstorm warning is issued for your area, move to a place of safety, ideally in an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.

First accumulating snow of the season up in Alaska, and we are finally seeing the rains we need to keep nature alive and healthy. "I thought my lawn was dead, it went beyond dormant I thought. I was wrong! I will need to mow soon. My grass has come back green and lush the last week!" Says Bill from Miltona.

We are now seeing snow down to road level in the Eastern Alaska Range. Here is the current view from Trims Camp along the Richardson Highway. We expect this to continue this afternoon and overnight. Up to 1 inch of accumulation is possible at pass level.

Hope you are having a wonderful Easter Holiday! The Easter Holiday is a holiday of rebirth. We can look around and see spring is here, weather is improving, and grass will soon be green. Flowers and crops will be growing again soon too.
