At the beginning of this project we decided we were not interested in cutting corners. and a big part of that was using high-quality and historically accurate materials & finishes, even if that meant spending a little extra time to do it right.

We were able to salvage these old growth, maple floors, and beautiful oak staircase from a set to be demolished home. If you’re familiar with this project, you might know that the house was flooded, which ruined all of the first floor hardwood floors, so this was truly a godsend. (They really don’t make them like this anymore.) We were able to rescue some beautiful light fixtures as well.

If anyone knows of any resources for historic salvaged construction material, we would love to know.

God Bless this Mess!

Here are some photos of the progress over the past two years and our rendering of where we hope to be soon. We figure the least we can do is keep you up to date on our progress. Currently, we are designing and procuring plans for our utilities, so there isn’t much happening on the outside. I know concerns have been raised about our progress but rest assured, we are busy. If you do have questions please reach out- or stop by for a visit if you see us working.

We have met more undorseeable circumstances building our home than we could have predicted; severe flood damage, dangerous structural issues, miles of red tape. We are so proud of our progress and so grateful for the kindness and support most of our neighbors and community have shown us. Thank you so much for your patience as we continue on this journey.
