Today is Mesothelioma Awareness Day, a time to educate and remind the public about one of the deadliest occupational diseases.

What is mesothelioma?
Mesothelioma is a rare but aggressive cancer that develops in the lining of the lungs, abdomen, or heart. Its leading cause is exposure to asbestos fibers — microscopic particles that can be inhaled or ingested when asbestos-containing materials are disturbed.
Why asbestos is dangerous:

Asbestos was widely used in construction and industrial materials for decades.

When damaged or improperly removed, its fibers remain airborne and can stay in the lungs for years.

Even short-term exposure can increase the risk of developing mesothelioma or other lung diseases.

At The MRD Group, part of our mission is to safely identify, remove, and dispose of asbestos in buildings scheduled for renovation or demolition. Professional abatement not only protects today’s workers, but also prevents future generations from being exposed to this hazardous material.

Today marks 24 years since September 11, 2001. We pause to reflect, remember, and give thanks for the extraordinary bravery shown that day from firefighters, first responders, medical teams, and everyday people who helped others. We also remember the 2,977 lives lost and stand with their families and survivors.
