“We Recycle Buildings” is more than a tagline. It describes what happens after a structure comes down.

Milwaukee Materials, our local sister company, plays an important role in that process. Concrete recovered through demolition can be separated from steel, crushed and processed into reusable road base instead of being sent to a landfill.

The concrete that once formed a building’s floors, walls and foundations can become material for the next road, parking lot or construction site.

Together, The MRD Group and Milwaukee Materials help complete that recycling loop: demolition, material recovery, local processing and reuse.

A final farewell to Cowley Hall.

Reading the comments and memories from UW-La Crosse alumni, students, faculty, and staff is a good reminder that buildings like this mean a lot to the people who spent time inside them.

MRD was proud to help bring this chapter to a safe and respectful close as UWL prepares for the next phase of the Prairie Springs Science Center.

Thank you to UW-La Crosse for the opportunity to be part of a project with so much history and meaning to the campus community.

Thank you to the local news sources featuring our work at the former Roosevelt Elementary School in Racine.

Roosevelt Elementary first opened in 1925 and served generations of students, families, teachers, and staff before closing at the end of the 2024-25 school year.

Projects like this deserve a thoughtful approach. Schools carry a lot of history for the communities they serve, and our team understands the importance of performing the work safely, professionally, and with respect for what the building represented.

As the site moves into its next chapter, MRD is helping safely remove the existing structure and prepare the property for what comes next.

Happy Fourth of July!

As America marks 250 years of independence, we pause to reflect on the generations of people who have built, defended, strengthened, and shaped this country.

America’s story has always been carried forward by hard work, sacrifice, and faith.

We are grateful for the freedoms we enjoy, the communities we serve, and the people who continue building the future of this country every day.

A literal "blast from the past"!

As our country celebrates 250 years of independence this Fourth of July, we are taking a look back at a piece of MRD history here in Wisconsin.

This footage features work performed over 20 years ago by Midwest Rail & Dismantling, now The MRD Group, during the Wisconsin State Fair Park / Milwaukee Mile grandstand reconstruction project in West Allis.

For decades, MRD has been trusted to help take down complex structures across Wisconsin and the Midwest. We are proud of where we started, proud of the work our crews have completed over the years, and proud to continue serving the communities that built us.
