In 2017, I submitted a request to begin my Backyard Habitat Certification. It was right after our second son arrived and was also way too soon to think about scheduling something like that in hindsight.

Having a BS in Environmental Studies with a Minor in Sustainability, I have a deep love for plants and wildlife. This love was definitely influenced by my grandfather Bert, who was an avid fisherman and hunter (likely the most wildlife appreciating bunch you’ll ever find) and a volunteer with the local Audubon (now Bird Alliance).

I remember even getting to help release a rehabilitated raptor with him on Sauvie Island when I was young 🦅.

Today marks a 7 year project, but also a lifetime of learning to appreciate the wild we have. I have officially received my Backyard Habitat certification!

I just love it here so much and hope you do too 🥰
