Sometimes the greatest hearts have four legs.
I received the following story from Ollie’s amazing owner, Kristi. Ollie was the very first calf born on the farm and will always have a special place in my heart. From day one he was a sweetheart and I’m glad to know his gentle temperament and kind soul is helping others.
Kristi’s heifer, Maisy, was bred before she came to live at her farm when she was only five months old. Her little body wasn’t big enough to deliver a calf, and after a long, heartbreaking night, she was rushed 45 minutes to an equine hospital where an emergency C-section saved her life. Although her calf couldn’t be saved, Maisy spent 20 days in ICU and another 7 days recovering before she was finally able to come home.
This is where Ollie comes in….
From the moment Maisy came home, he refused to leave her side. He stayed beside her, checked on her, gently licked her, and when they had to be separated, he stood at the fence just to touch noses with her.
It’s amazing how animals seem to know exactly when someone needs a little extra love.
Thank you for loving Ollie and all of your animals so well and for sharing this story with me. I couldn’t be more proud of the sweet boy Ollie has become and can’t wait to hear more about Maisy and Ollie’s future adventures together.
