π² Ever wonder why so many mountain cabins look like they're built from giant logs... but aren't?
Meet D-Log siding.
It's designed to look like full logs from the outside, but it's actually milled lumber with one rounded face. In other words, you get the classic log cabin appearance without needing a crane, a team of lumberjacks, and a small army of squirrels to help move the walls. π
Some of the reasons builders like D-Log siding:
π‘ Lighter than full logsπ¨ Easier to installπ² Uses less wood than traditional log constructionπ° Typically costs less than building with full logsπ οΈ Less settling and movement over time
From the road, most people would never know the difference. They just see that classic mountain cabin look that fits right in here in North Georgia.
Fun fact: Many of the cabins you admire while driving through the mountains aren't actually built from stacked logs. D-Log siding is often the secret behind that rustic, cozy appearance.
It's kind of like wearing a flannel shirt. You don't have to cut down the whole tree to look like you belong in the woods. ππ²
