For the last 3 months, our founder Wesley Chiles has been coaching these three young turf enthusiasts from Louisa FFA to prepare for the Virginia FFA State Convention/Turf CDE competition held this week at Virginia Tech. We are proud for them to represent our community and wear our brand 👏

Happy Mother's Day to all Moms out there doing the real hard work that makes our jobs seem a whole lot easier!

This upcoming week looks to bring a continuation of the wet weather pattern in the Lake Anna/central Virginia Piedmont area. Rainouts for scheduled turfcare and mowing are a concern for Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Our teams will be working diligently this week in our fleeting dry weather windows to keep moving forward with our turfcare application #3 and our weekly and biweekly mowing efforts.

I will strongly advise those with irrigation systems to turn off all watering programs this week, and probably into the following week. The frequent extended duration of leaf wetness from the rainy pattern can become detrimental to the grass plants. We can't control the weather, but thankfully we can control whether or not to irrigate.

* Infrequent irrigation = deeper root growth.

* Increased root depth = enhanced drought tolerance and improved overall turf health.
