2023 MSA TCC & MN Festival of Trees

Congratulations to the 2023 MSA TCC Champions, Mariah Lundstrum and Scott Ferris!

Mariah and Scott will be representing Minnesota at the International Tree Climbing Championship in Albuquerque, NM, in August. Our second place finishers, Mariah Sirbasku and Wesley Full, will be representing Minnesota at the North American Tree Climbing Championship in Washington, DC in October.

Thank you to all of the climbers, volunteers, sponsors, Festival of Trees participants, and the City of Buffalo for a very successful, and epic event!

Nathan considers his next move in Brush Pile Mahjong...

We never know what's in store when we arrive on a jobsite to clean up piles of limbs, logs, and brush left by electrical "Safe Work Zone" pruning-- one of the juicy joys of doing arborist ground work is organizing these beaver-huts into tidy, draggable, chippable piles for processing. If you love pick-up-sticks, Jenga, or Mahjong, this is your cup of tea!

What is ELECTRICAL SAFE WORK ZONE PRUNING? Great question! When we perform work on trees near power lines or energized conductors, we call our friends at Xcel Energy to have a certified line clearance arborist remove all tree material within ten feet of the lines/conductors. This creates a safe working environment for our arborists to complete our work. Safe for us, safe for you!

The two champions of the 2022 Minnesota Tree Climbing Competition are employees of Northeast Tree?

IT'S TRUE.
Mariah Lundstrum and Scott Ferris won, respectively, the women's and men's divisions of the spring event hosted by our state's chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture, the Minnesota Society of Arboriculture. As winners of the event they were awarded entry into the ISA International Tree Climbing Competition held in Copenhagen, Denmark!

There are a lot of ways to wrap up a long week of tree work in Northeast Minneapolis. The very best one just might be a stop-in at our favorite neighbor, Fletcher's Ice Cream for some ube on a sprinkle cone. "What's ube?" you ask. According to the peeps at Fletcher's, who we trust implicitly with frozen treats as well as tuber lore, ube is a vibrantly purple root native to the Philippines and southeast Asia. Incorporated into ice cream, ube dazzles the eyes and delights the tum.
