After years of waiting my Lapin dwarf cherry tree has a lot of fruit on it. Since it is a zone 5 plant, and Minneapolis is not, I took care to place it in a sheltered area, and covered the root area with straw bales through the first few winters. It has some disease problems that the tree guy said are because the tree is stressed from being in the wrong climate (oops). But it's alive and producing sweet cherries here in Minneapolis!

If you can see past the incredible agave growing in the foreground, you'll see urban guerrilla gardening in action in Oaxaca - corn planted in a compost pile. Below is citrus peels used to discourage the ants that, here in Oaxaca, Mexico, can defoliate a small tree overnight. The best part about this garden for me is that it is planted in a neglected public raised bed between two runs of stairs right in the old center of the city.
