What a transformation at the 400 Block Garden 🪏🪨🌱🌺 We started removing the railroad ties late last fall and since we’ve removed more than 10 yards of dirt to make room for the new pathways, hosta garden, and perennials. We pruned all the existing trees and cleared out a lot of rock as well. Our Ground WORK crew garnered more than 100 thank yous the last two days and today staff from The Cedar Cultural Center were lifesavers to bring us lots of cold waters. And just like that our Cedar Riverside Bus Shelter is officially open. Our youth made this project a priority. Their voices were heard by the community and the adults went to work. Shout out to West Bank Minneapolis House of Balls Cedar Riverside Athletics & Enrichment and everyone that spoke up and called for change to happen. This was a true community effort. Thank you to everyone that came out to celebrate today.

We’re back for year 3 of Cedar Riverside Ground WORK and we couldn’t be more excited about what we’ve already accomplished this season. The pathways are underway at Edna’s Park, the bus shelter Grand Opening is this Thursday, May 28th at 3:00 pm, we’ve been mowing the 300 Block and Brian Coyle Center for over a month, many of our planters around the neighborhood are planted, and we’ll have the children’s food garden planted yet this week. So much more to do and Thursday are still our community work days from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm for anyone that wants to come lend a hand. Our full crew starts next Monday. Stay tuned for updates on the Cedar Riverside Meadow and plans for the 400 Block garden.

Oh and we got a brand new shed for our supplies and tools because we outgrew the corner we had at Brian Coyle Center.
