Hi, friends! Heather here.

I missed the entirety of last week due to a flu-like bug. I am back in the office today, but our phone service is down once again. :(

THANKFULLY, today is the day we had scheduled with CMIT West Orlando & Kissimmee to get our new phone lines set up.

Texts do appear to be going through, but you can also email us at [email protected].

Side note: If anyone else has absolutely had it with Quo phone service's problems the last 3-4 months, I would love to introduce you to Tanya at CMIT to get something so much better at a comparable price.

Hiya, friends! We've had a crazy few months as Summer Rush started in April this year. As always, we're TRYING to be better about posting stuff here, so I will share some current projects below:
1. A living room built-in, awaiting television delivery
2. A loft built-in, awaiting cabinet pull delivery
3. A removal and re-install of a mobility chair after new flooring was added
4. Beadboard installed, awaiting client to paint when the room is complete

Send us good vibes as Jacob tweaked his back this week but should be back at it early next week.

Progress photos!

I was hoping to share the finished project with y’all, but the TVs haven’t come in yet, and there’s still a few finishing touches… and I can’t wait anymore! 😆

Here are some unprofessional photos of the big carpentry projects we’ve been working hard on the last two weeks.

If you’ve talked to me (Heather) in the last few weeks, and it’s been crazy, this is why. Plus, I’m learning to wallpaper. 😮 more on that soon.

I often get asked why there’s a roll of toilet paper in my truck at all times. Well, sometimes you’re working in a home where the residents haven’t moved in yet. If you’re staying properly hydrated, nature still calls. Thankful today for my Save Trees backup roll.

Our Elevate Adult Day Program in Winter Garden is growing quickly, and we are looking to add 2 part time team members to our incredible staff family beginning this August!

We are specifically looking for individuals available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to help support our programs for adults with disabilities.

Experience is preferred, but not required. We are happy to train the right people.

More than anything, we are looking for people who are:
• Fun
• Patient
• Energetic
• Compassionate
• Team oriented

This role would work alongside our full time staff to help create meaningful experiences, activities, relationships, and community for the adults we serve every day.

One of the great parts about this position is that we mostly follow the Orange County school schedule, meaning many school holidays are off days.

The position would not officially begin until August, but we would love to begin connecting with potential candidates now.

If you or someone you know may be a great fit, please complete this interest form:
https://ldn.churchcenter.com/people/forms/1226342

Please help us share this with others who may be interested in joining the family.

Today starts a fun project. It’s rare that we have all techs on one jobsite, and especially for a week or more. It’s definitely the start of summer rush over here.

Heather in the office here (👋) is working hard to keep up with all the inquiries. Y’all bear with me as I’m project managing and running the office. 💪

Our friend Madison at Purified & Organized wrote an excellent quick-start guide to refreshing your closet without having to buy anything new. (Although that can be an added bonus once you make some space. 😆)

We love partnering with P&O on closet refreshes and anything else that needs an organizational touch. 💖

Check out the guide here:

Well this is a new one! Due to a supplier snafu at a local fabrication shop, we ended up with a request to lathe four spindle-type devices that will be elements of a capstan model for a maritime museum out of state. Never a dull moment around here.

⚠️ Long post alert! ⚠️
🥬 AI use at Lettuce Services 🥬

👋 Hi, friends! Heather here. I am the co-owner and office manager of Lettuce Services. If you've ever called us, you've spoken to me or heard my voice on the voicemail.

📞 After 5y in retail and 8y in insurance sales, I have apparently perfected my "phone voice." I am regularly told that my live voice sounds recorded, but today was the first time I was mistaken for AI.

🤖 Whereas I and our staff have our own opinions about Artificial Intelligence, it does have some key uses in business, so we thought it was a good time to share with you how AI is and is not used in our business.

---

🤖 🤖 🤖 What we use AI for 🤖 🤖 🤖

🚧 Sourcing Materials 🚧
When it is difficult to source a specialty material, we will sometimes use AI to scrape the internet looking for specialty suppliers that we can contact

💻 Background Processes 💻
Some of our SaaS tools (Hubspot, Google Suite, Xero, etc) have AI-enabled by default for automating tasks. We do not use generative AI, but sometimes the background processes are powered by algorithmic AI

✏️ Transcribing Voicemails ✏️
We are pretty sure Quo uses AI to transcribe our voicemails so that they are readable to us in a text form.

That's about it. We aren't huge fans of the clankers, but algorithms and AI do make some things easier, but we tend to lean on those tools and away from generative AI.

---

⚠️⚠️⚠️ IMPORTANTLY ⚠️⚠️⚠️
Here are our promises to you about AI at Lettuce Services:

✅ You will NEVER contact Lettuce Services and unknowingly speak or chat with an AI bot. We believe what makes us special is the human element. AI will not replace carpenters, nor will it replace the humans you talk with when you call, email, text, or chat with us.

✅ You will NEVER be presented an AI image/mockup of construction work. An AI image will never be shown to you as proof of our work or an idea of what we can do.

✅ We will NEVER knowingly use generative AI to create marketing slicks. Canva has some tools built-in, and it isn't always clear what originally came from AI, but we never tell the clanker to "design it for us."

✅ We will NEVER use AI to draft emails or messages.

---

🚂 So what does this mean? Working with us sometimes takes a little longer because we embrace authentic, human-centric, and artisan processes in our business. It means you may get our voicemail sometimes. It means you may have to wait a little longer on a hand-drawn design. But we value our work and the humans that produce it, and we'd like to keep them -- not the computers -- at the center of our work.

💚💚 Thanks for listening and for your continued support! We love you guys. 💚💚
