Western Excavating Sand and Gravel Sales Kevin Mytty acquired Western Excavating in 2004 to serve the excavating needs of his developments.

In January of 2021, Kevin's son, Riley Mytty, took over Western Excavating and continues the successful business practices for the family-owned business. We now serve a growing number of customers throughout the Missoula and surrounding areas, working with other developers, general contractors, business and home owners, governmental agencies and utilities. As we have grown, we have expanded our ca

pabilities. In 2015 we acquired a gravel pit south of Lolo to meet the growing demand that our smaller pit was strained to fulfill. We then built a concrete plant and acquired a fleet of concrete mixer trucks, allowing us to provide aggregate materials and pre-mixed concrete to our construction jobs, as well as to other customers. In 2017, we began operating the facilities previously owned by Old Castle/Jensen at our current location. Our full-service operation includes pre-mix concrete plant, asphalt plant, and aggregate sales, as well as our offices and equipment maintenance shop.

Fall hours will start October 21st. Our Mullan Pit will be open from 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM and our Lolo Pit will be open from 8:00 AM-4:00 PM

We are seeking a working Crew Foreman for an excavation and utility team. Our ideal candidate will have multiple years experience in operating heavy equipment, directing a crew, have the ability to read and understand construction plans, have excellent communication skills, and a valid CDL. Our Lolo Pit will be closed, for the winter, starting December 4th 2023. We will open back up next spring. Thank you to everyone who supported us this year!

Western Excavating Winter Hours start November 6th 2023. The Mullan Pit will be open from 8:00 Am-4:00 PM. The Lolo Pit will be open from 8:00 AM-4:00 PM until further notice.

Western Excavating got to take part in Awards for the first ever Bottle Calf Class at the Western Montana Fair this year. This was a new class designed to promote younger children to take part with bottle calves. The kids had to present, show, and answer questions from the judge. This class is ages 4 to 8.
