Another beautiful restoration/transformation for this happy client on the northside of Missoula. We cut out rot, replaced and restyled all the railing on the second floor porch, retrimmed the windows on the west side that were beaten down, and made plans for an expansive deck on the front of the house for next year!

Another creative opportunity came from a friend looking to have a raised platform built for his coaches to conduct class from with the option of storage beneath. He also wanted protection for the drywall from any stray kettlebells, so we used laminate flooring and regular baseboard trim to give him a wraparound accent wall. It looks great and will keep any over enthusiastic weight tosses from crashing through the wall. Logo paint job was done by Josh at Bean Painting and after I left the job he continued with a repaint of all the orange and blue walls to give the whole place a fresh look.

I was recently blessed with the opportunity to work on this clients lake house updating a couple of sore spots that really needed attention. The pics aren’t great, but you can tell that I removed a bunch of old floral wallpaper, textured the drywall, and repainted a nice warm beige that doesn’t overpower the kitchen or dining room.

Second project was a coverup in the primary suite of old wallpaper that had peeled up and been a visual nuisance. Not yet able to tackle the entire room remodel, they had me come up with a wainscoting option that matched the adjoining cedar tongue and groove. This was a lot of fun and I’ll be working here again this fall doing a couple storage built ins and more wallpaper removal/painting. The last pic is of a sunset view over Flathead Lake from the living room. I’ll happily scrape wallpaper residue off every wall to be treated to that view for a week at a time!

It’s been a crazy busy year so far, but I’ll start at the beginning with this set of bathroom cabinets. I removed all the drawer fronts and doors, sanded them (and the cabinet boxes) down, and refinished them with 3 coats of satin finish oil based polyurethane. It was a lot of work, but refinishing the solid wood was a lot cheaper than installing a totally new bathroom set.

What started as a client requesting I build a pantry cabinet in his garage turned into me finishing the space completely. Insulation, sheet rock, mud, tape, installing shelving, building a new landing and stairs, even a custom drawer under the landing to store his luggage. I learned a lot about where I want to be as a contractor and painting is definitely not the limit of my abilities.

This was my favorite job in a long time. The client allowed me to use my own creativity to achieve the result they were looking for. These pics are the fireplace as it was originally built by the owner’s father, the whitewash look that a renter thought would improve it (without permission, of course), and the finished look I got blending 3 colors of concrete stain and different techniques on the grout and rock faces.

I had a lot of fun on the first exterior project of the year, helping a friend update his new home and give it the look he wanted. I got to learn about repairing and sealing stucco and re surfacing the front porch with some fresh exterior carpet. Looks like it’s gonna be a busy year as the schedule is filling up fast. If you’re looking to renew your exterior look, contact me now and we’ll get you on the schedule ASAP!

I had some fun fabricating a fix for this friend’s towel bar drywall damage. It’s one of those things that happens to almost everyone at some time, and can either leave you with an ugly wall patch that never blends well, or a creative coverup that can add some style to your bathroom. It took some thought, but I really like how this matches their craftsman style door and window trim. It also hits 2 studs and will likely never come off, unless they really, really, really want it gone!

So far stepping back from hospital work to take on painting full time has been a huge success. I’m learning lessons everyday, sometimes the hard way, but staying super busy and improving the lives of others along the way! My 2020 vision is seeing big things clearly ahead as long as I continue to work hard, stay grateful for every opportunity, and remain kind when under pressure. I’ll be wrapping up a massive 3 month project soon that I can’t release pics of until it’s done, but I’m proud as s**t of where it’s taken me as a painter. Can’t wait to show you all!

You ever use painters tape to get nice sharp lines on an accent stripe/design? Well, it just isn’t that easy to get rid of the little lip of paint that dried against the tape if you or the next homeowner wants it gone. I ended up using some 220 grit sandpaper after the dremel wire wheel proved a bit too aggressive. Labor intensive, but it turned out pretty nice in the end!
