Fister Electric provides a superior knowledge of electrical work with unmatched honesty and integrity. Fister Electric is a local Missoula Business that was started by Gale Fister in 1966. From that time until the early 70's Gale primarily worked residential and small commercial jobs around the local area with a small crew. At this time, the business grew to include wiring sawmills across Western

Montana, and one of Gale's sons joined the business. By the early 80's Fister opened an electrical shop with two of Gale's other sons in Evanston Wyoming during the oil boom. In 1985 Fister closed the doors in Evanston and the two sons that were there joined the work in Missoula. In 1982 Fister Electric was given a chance to gain some work at the pulp mill in Missoula. They became a union shop then in order to do this work. In 1987 the fourth son finished college and came back to Missoula. Since then Fister Electric has done substantial work in the Missoula area. They have also branched off into Fiber optics, networking, Fire panels, and Phones. They have been licensed and worked in Idaho, Wyoming and Washington. Currently two of Gale's sons are running the business. Bob Fister - 45 years of experience with Fister Electric

I was having big issues with Facebook today. It wouldn’t let me type much or it would blink away.

I was going to add that this type of work is what I did for my whole career. I love this kind of work and especially doing the design builds but there are fewer and fewer of these jobs left in the this area.

Fister electric built many saw mills from the ground up in the 70’s and 80’s. We built what was once one of the the highest speed stud mills in the world. We did huge projects with at the local paper mill, particle board plant and chemical plants. Almost all of these are gone now and there is not much of that work left in this area that I have truly loved and excelled at. It makes me very sad.

Next, our good old Friends from IT(Industrial Technologies erected us a lovely steel building for a new MCC room. I should also give a shout out to Fletcher Excavating for all of his help with digging!

Man we had to temporary a lot of junk to get the building up. All while trying to not give our customer much outage time and it has to be safe. Sometimes we have to get kind of creative.

Then, we started the task of building an MCC room around the old MCC room. This is all while the plant is still running with minimum outages while we were boring.

These are pictures of the footings being poured and you will see the old MCC room starting to have to get dismantled. All of the motors and MCC gear were still operational so we had to keep everything dry when it rained and the wind blows there a lot. There is a lot of sawdust blowing around constantly.

Oh.. and did i mention a 250HP blower right next to us that screams in your ears AAAAALLLLLLL day long.

First, we had Blue mountain directional drilling come in and bore from the 12,470V power lines to a concrete pull box and then up to 17' under underground conveyors and equipment and popped up in the middle of equipment to a very precise spot on an existing concrete pad.
We also bored another direction under equipment and fire water lines to pop up 300' away at the location of the new truck dump.

This will take a few posts to explain the story. My customer kept asking if they could add equipment to this end of the mill. They had an old MCC Room with a small MCC section and only 400 amps of power. I kept telling them, "you don't have enough power here and any other MCC room is way to far away."

They wanted to add another truck dump so i gave them a design of how we could get them enough power for now AND for the future. This is what i do. I design build for people and doing that for Industrial sites is what i enjoy the most. I love to take the customers problems and come up with solutions that work.
