There are five basic rules for mowing your lawn:
1. Cut the turf higher--the higher the better—only cut a third of the grass blade or less
2. Mow in the morning when it's cooler, preferably after the dew is gone
3. Vary your mowing pattern to prevent soil compaction and ruts
4. Keep mower blades sharp
5. Have a proper watering/fertilization schedule

Hello James Valley!

We’ve had a lot of great conversions these past few weeks about our processes and what differentiates a nursery from the big box stores. We will never be able to beat the quantity of orders compared to big boxes but in order to justify our slightly higher prices:

- We bring in our annuals early April in order to start pushing fertilizer that promotes strong stems (need to withstand our wind)

- We cycle in another fertilizer just before the frost ends promoting blooms

- Our staff are trained and educated horticulturalists monitoring and adjusting fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides and water schedules to actively maintain the health and quality from any outside ailments

- Our tables and plant placement are set at the optimal height and location for each type of plant. Our greenhouse may seem random, but each plant is placed in its most optimal location

- We are constantly monitoring light, heat and wind: opening doors, roof vents and closing them nightly based on temps. We like to introduce our plant material to the natural weather as fast as possible so they have the best chance when you bring them home!

These processes apply to our perennial, shrub and tree yard as well. We have extensive fertilizer and monitoring schedules for every plant maintaining their health and pushing them to be as strong as possible!

If you have any questions about our processes and how we keep our quality, please stop in and ask! We love nerding out on plant science 🤓 Happy planting!
