⏪ Flashback Friday!

Today we're looking back at one of the projects we're proud to have been a part of; the First Lutheran Church roof remodel completed in 2020.

Projects like this are about more than construction. They're about helping preserve the places where our community gathers, celebrates, and creates lasting memories.

🌽 Corn Palace Week has a way of bringing you back.

For more than 130 years, the Corn Palace has been part of Mitchell’s story. What began in 1892 as a way to celebrate South Dakota agriculture and bring town and country together has grown into a tradition recognized around the world. Even now, the Corn Palace Festival still carries that same feeling of community, celebration, and hometown pride.

For Michelle, Corn Palace Week also brings back some especially sweet memories.

Growing up, she and her sister would save the tabs from Culhane’s 2-quart milk cartons all year long so they could turn them in for ride tickets during the festival. At the time, it was simply part of the excitement of Corn Palace Week. Looking back now, Michelle sees it a little differently too, as a wonderful example of a locally owned business finding a way to support its community and create memories for local families. 💛

That is what makes traditions like this so special. They are not just about the rides, concerts, food, or crowds. They are about the stories we carry with us and the generations that continue making new memories of their own.

This year’s Corn Palace Festival runs August 27–30, with free entertainment downtown and concerts inside the Palace, including Andy Grammer on Friday and Cole Swindell on Saturday.

We hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy a little bit of Corn Palace Week and all the hometown nostalgia that comes with it. 🌽
