Next up in our series, we're spotlighting Lisa Byrd, Project Accountant at White-Spunner Construction!

Lisa's path into construction started when a friend thought White-Spunner Construction would be a great fit for her. She brought several years of experience in accounts payable and receivable, while also keeping the books for her husband's business.

As a Project Accountant, Lisa keeps the financial side of our projects on track, from job costs to pay applications to subcontractor paperwork. Her first Home Depot, at World Commerce Center in Florida, was a big one, with a long list of subcontractors and paperwork to manage, and Lisa kept it all organized.

Her proudest project is the Civic Center Parking Deck here in Mobile, AL. It was a challenging job, but it's rewarding to work on a local project that benefits the community.

Coworkers know Lisa as friendly, honest, and hardworking. Her advice for anyone considering accounting in construction: "Working on a project start to finish and seeing it go from a patch of grass to a completed building is very rewarding."

Fun fact: Lisa has been married to her husband, Steven, for 30 years, and they have a daughter, Sabrina, and a granddaughter, Ensley. You might be surprised to learn she's very handy with tools. She's always refinishing furniture or working on a home improvement project, and she also loves hunting, fishing, gardening, and relaxing on her deck with a country view.

Our series continues with Josh Stokes, Project Engineer I at White-Spunner Construction!

Josh got his start in construction in 2021 as a commercial electrician. That time in the field gave him a hands-on understanding of how buildings come together, and it's a strong foundation for the work he does today.

As a Project Engineer, Josh is the link between the office and the field. He manages RFIs and submittals, reviews drawings, tracks materials, and keeps project documents organized so the team can stay ahead and keep the job moving.

He's especially proud of his current project, a large retail build in Crestview, FL, where he's had the chance to learn from two great Superintendents and see what it takes to deliver for a national retail client.

According to Orville Story, one of the Superintendents he's working with in Crestview, Josh is known for never giving up on a task until it's done. His advice for anyone considering construction: "Learn as much as you can and don't be afraid to ask questions. Construction is a difficult career, but it's very rewarding."

Fun fact: When he's not on the job, Josh enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Grand opening day! Our team is excited to celebrate the completion of The Home Depotā€™s newest 134,445-square-foot store in Inverness, Florida.

Over hundreds of projects nationwide, The Home Depot has trusted us to deliver quality work on schedule, market after market. That momentum continues with four more stores underway and slated to open next year.

We're continuing our series, and this week we're spotlighting Matthew Jenkins, Skilled Trade Craftsman at White-Spunner Construction!

Matthew has always liked building things. Growing up, he worked alongside his dad, a man of many trades, and picked up a love for hands-on work and learning new skills. In high school, he joined the Academy of Craft Training - Mobile, a program that gives students hands-on construction training and real industry experience. That's where his career got its start, and it's how he came to White-Spunner Construction.

Matthew works in our Civil Division, mostly as a Concrete Finisher, and his proudest project so far is the Private Hangar & Office Facility in Fairhope, AL. It was his first job with our Civil team, and it gave him the chance to grow his concrete finishing skills while taking on new responsibilities.

Around the jobsite, he's known as "Smiley" because he's always happy. He's eager to learn, catches on fast, and is a great worker. His advice for anyone thinking about construction: "Don't be afraid to start somewhere small, because every great career starts with a first step."

Fun fact: Matthew loves spending time with family and friends and making memories with the people who mean the most to him. He's also into gaming, technology, and cars and trucks.

October is , and we're spending it spotlighting the people who make every project possible. First up: meet Hayden Tilley, Project Manager at White-Spunner Construction!

Hayden's love for building started as a kid with tractors and Tonka trucks, and that curiosity carried him straight into Auburn University's Building Science program. After graduating in 2017, he spent five years with a major electrical subcontractor in Birmingham working on large-scale healthcare projects across the Southeast before joining our team in 2023.

Today, Hayden manages several Home Depot projects. As a Project Manager, he owns the budget, schedule, and contracts, and keeps owners, trade partners, and field teams moving in the same direction so his superintendents have everything they need to keep pushing forward.

What drives Hayden is the team behind every build, coming together with one goal to create something that leaves a lasting mark on a community. His proudest project yet is the Inverness, FL Home Depot, a job that's tested his team with offsite scope, county requirements, weather delays, and constant schedule pressure. As he puts it: "Inverness has been one of the most challenging projects we've taken on, but it's also one that I believe will make us the most proud when we cross the finish line."

Off the jobsite, Hayden is a husband to Sally and dad to Meredith, with a second daughter, Mary Claire, arriving this November. You'll find him golfing, fishing, running, or serving in leadership with JH Outback in Mobile, and grabbing a bite at Kingfishers or Master Joe's in Fairhope.

Today, the White-Spunner Construction team was honored to receive three awards from Associated General Contractors of America for our safety performance in 2025! Superintendent Randy Carden received the Supervisor Safety Award from Alabama AGC, and WSC earned the National AGC award for an overall zero lost time incidence rate and the Alabama AGC award for an overall zero incidence rate.

In 2025, Randy maintained a perfect safety record with zero recordable incidents or lost time. His commitment to job site safety and to protecting every person on his projects reflects the kind of leadership that strengthens our company. Congratulations to Randy on this well-deserved recognition!

These awards are a testament to how our team makes safety a priority on the job site each day, and we are grateful for their dedication to keeping one another safe.
