Hurricane Season Starts June 1st — Are You Ready? 🌪️🌧️🏠
Experts are predicting a very active hurricane season in the Gulf, so now is the time to prepare. Your roof is your home’s first line of defense—protecting it means protecting your family.
Here are some key tips to help you get ready before the storm hits:
🔹 1. Make an Emergency Plan
Outline evacuation routes, set a family meeting point, and make sure everyone knows how to stay in touch.
🔹 2. Build an Emergency Kit
Stock at least 72 hours of supplies: water, food, medications, flashlights, batteries, important documents, hygiene items, and a bit of emergency cash.
🔹 3. Protect Your Home (and Roof!)
• Install storm shutters or board up windows
• Reinforce doors and garage doors
• Trim trees and secure outdoor items
• Clear gutters and downspouts
• Consider roof reinforcements—our team can help with that!
🔹 4. Stay Weather-Aware
Sign up for alerts, use a reliable weather app, and understand the difference between a hurricane watch and a warning.
🔹 5. Prep for Power Outages
Have extra batteries, power banks, and a battery-powered or hand-crank radio.
• Consider a generator, and follow all safety guidelines.
• Print out important contacts—especially your insurance info—so you can reach them even without internet access.
🔹 6. Don't Forget Pets
Prepare food, water, meds, and a safe space for your furry family members. Plan ahead for pet-friendly shelters if evacuation is needed.
🔹 7. Know Your Evacuation Zone
Familiarize yourself with routes and orders. Keep your car fueled and ready.
🔹 8. Check in With Neighbors
Share your plan and offer help where you can—community support makes a big difference during a storm.
