began doing business in 1950 and evolved into Perry's Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning. In the 1940s there was not such a thing as a water corporation or any rural water system. Consequently people who lived outside the city had to have their own water system, so there was a demand for pump work in the rural area. Vance Perry specialized in maintaining those systems when he began this famil
y business 60 years ago. As technology changed and public water systems came into being Perry's changed along with the times. Vance entered his business into heating systems and plumbing work. The first tri-county heat pump was installed by Vance around 1960 and he received an award from Public Service Indiana for that installation. While new technology went from water pumps to heating in the 1950s the 60s saw a new trend; air-conditioning. Vance advanced his business by following this trend. As Vance's sons grew older they helped out in the family business and eventually all three sons worked for their father. In 1984 Vance retired. In 1987 the oldest son Steve left the business to move to Tennessee where he began his own heating and air conditioning business. Craig and Tony have since continued the family business with Craig working the heating and air conditioning side and Tony working the plumbing side. In April, 2011 Tony retired from the family business. Vapco, Inc has now dissolved. Craig and his son Vance continue the family business today as Perry's Heating and Air Conditioning LLC.
