Well the first K-sat boring of the day was practically in a Yellow Jacket nest. Miraculously no one got stung. Thanks to Dr. Eric Severson with NCSU for spending the day with us. Always nice to have him on site. Thanks to Lindsay Carrol with BREC for assisting today as well. A great time was had by all!

Drip, drip, drip! If you live in Union or Anson Counties or are looking at property in these counties you’re going to most likely hear these words. Drip systems are more expensive but don’t be scared of drip systems, instead use it as a bargaining chip. When you or your Real Estate agent writes an offer to purchase and contract put this condition in the OTPC, “Property must perc for a conventional septic system.” But before you set the due diligence date call us to schedule a septic site and soil evaluation. We will do a desk review that may help you decide if you even want to sign that OTPC.

We can evaluate, design and permit the septic for your next dream home. Call us at 919-815-3997 or email [email protected] to schedule an evaluation or septic design.

So if you’re not familiar with NC septic rules don’t let anyone tell you they are simple. Revised in January 2024 they are very complicated and not only do you need to know the rules but also the product approvals. There are restrictions within the product approvals that are not written in the Rules. For instance, when Infiltrator chambers are installed more than 36” deep you cannot take the 25% reduction in length. Some know the rules better than others. We were once told by an instructor, “Know the rules better than the County.” We’ve taken that to heart. So, when you get denied by your County Health Department, give us an opportunity to review the data and see if we can make the rules work for you instead of against you.

We hired a new septic inspector last week to scope pipes and drain fields. Here he is on his first job. It was 95° and of course I found him slacking in the shade. Watch out the snakes are out. Luckily this is one of the good guys!
