It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of a cherished member of the Mattison Martinoli Inc. family, Raymond A. Patee, who left us on December 30th, 2025 at 1:20pm after his battle with cancer.
Ray joined MMI on March 1st, 1999 and retired on August 16th, 2023. Before joining us, he began installing FRP in California at just 17 years old — long before most people even know what they want to do in life. His very first project with MMI was Safeco Field in Seattle, and from that moment on, Ray became a vital part of our company’s growth and reputation.
Ray was the definition of a true company man. Loyal, steady, and always watching the bottom line, he took pride in doing things right and doing them efficiently. His photographic memory was legendary. Ray could measure a sheet — length, width, every plumbing and electrical cutout — walk back to his table, and mark it perfectly without ever looking at the wall or a piece of paper. Anyone who witnessed it knew they were watching something rare. Even months later, you could ask him about a specific job and a specific sheet, and he would recall the measurement without hesitation.
He also brought innovation to MMI. The tin snip hole saw and our thin glue paddle were Ray’s methods — techniques he developed over years of installation to speed up production without sacrificing quality. Many of our current practices trace directly back to his ingenuity.
General contractors knew it too. When a job was in a pinch, they asked for Ray. And Ray delivered every time.
Ray was more than an installer. He was a craftsman, a problem solver, a mentor, and a cornerstone of who we became as a company. His impact will be felt for years to come, and his legacy lives on in the work we do every day.
Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Thank you, Ray, for everything.
