According to the New York Post, a 46-year-old Georgia woman, Ashley Wasielewski, suffered severe second- and third-degree burns after a random toxic chemical attack while walking in Forsyth Park in Savannah following a Christmas church program.
Police say a stranger approached from behind and poured a corrosive substance over her head — burning through her clothing, damaging her skin, and even melting her car key fob. Witnesses described hearing her horrifying screams as the attack unfolded.
🚑 Wasielewski was rushed to the Augusta Burn Center, where she is being treated for burns covering much of her body, including her face, scalp, hands, and legs.
👮♂️ Savannah police, working with the FBI, are investigating and have released surveillance footage of a person of interest. No arrest has yet been made. Authorities have increased patrols in city parks but say there’s no indication of a broader public threat at this time.
🙏 Ashley’s family and friends describe her as a kind, charitable person with no known enemies, and they’re urging anyone with information to come forward.
