The Tree Man Chronicles:
Dead trees become weak and unstable over time, increasing the risk of falling limbs or complete collapse, which can damage property, equipment, and put people at risk of injury. Our crew also demonstrated strong professionalism throughout the removal process by safely controlling the cut sections and carefully placing debris in organized areas to keep the worksite clean, efficient, and safe.

🔊 Sound Up 🔊

Do you hear these noises in your yard?

Act Immediately!!
Tree bugs are insects and pests that live in, feed on, or damage trees. Common examples include bark beetles, emerald ash borers, termites, aphids, and caterpillars. Some tree bugs weaken trees by eating leaves, boring into trunks, or spreading diseases.

These pests can be dangerous because they may kill large numbers of trees, damage forests, and create safety hazards when weakened trees fall. Certain bugs also spread plant diseases that harm crops and natural ecosystems. In cities and neighborhoods, tree infestations can lead to expensive property damage and higher maintenance costs. Some tree bugs, like ticks or stinging insects living in trees, can also affect human and animal health directly.

🌲 Season 3 Finale
“Still Standing”

The storm season wouldn’t let up.
For weeks, J AND J trucks had been the first ones out every morning…
And the last ones back every night.

Tree after tree.
Call after call.
Roads blocked.
Driveways crushed.
Ground too soaked to trust.
The whole town looked tired.

And honestly?
So did Justin.

Before sunrise, Jennifer sat at the kitchen table surrounded by paperwork.

Contracts.
Invoices.
Equipment quotes.
And one estimate folded separately off to the side.

Ventilation system.
Still unpaid.
Still waiting.

Justin walked in quietly.
Saw the paper immediately.
Didn’t say anything.
Just poured coffee.

“You should sleep,” Jennifer said softly.

Justin laughed once.
“When?”

Across town…
The farmhouse lights flicked on again.

Not for customers.
Not for opening day.
Just… because Jayhli refused to let the dream go dark.

Inside, she stood alone wiping down counters nobody had used yet.
Checking equipment not approved yet.
Reading over numbers she already knew by heart.

Too expensive.
Too far away.
For now.

Her phone buzzed.
Picture message.
From her little brother.

A selfie from inside a J AND J truck.
Captioned:
“Dad almost hit a mailbox again.”

Jayhli laughed out loud for the first time all day.

Back at the shop…
Jordan was loading chains into the truck.

Justin watched him quietly.

Different now.
More capable.
More trusted.

“You good to run the green crew?” Justin asked.

Jordan nodded.
“Already got it mapped out.”

Justin smirked slightly.
“Look at you acting like management.”

For a second…
Things felt normal again.

Then Jennifer stepped outside.
Phone in hand.
Expression unreadable.

Justin saw it immediately.
“What happened?”

Jennifer hesitated.
Then…
“We didn’t get the county approval.”

Silence.

Not for J AND J.
For Jayhli…Again.

Jordan stopped moving.
Jagger slowly looked up from the truck.

Justin just stood there.
Tired.
Thinking.

Across town, Jayhli was still working when the farmhouse door opened.

She looked up expecting Jennifer.
Instead;
Justin.

No speech.
No dramatic entrance.
Just boots on old wooden floors.
The same way he’d walked into every hard day his entire life.

His eyes moved across the space slowly.
The counters.
The lights.
The work.
Everything she built.

Then he noticed the folded estimate sitting on the counter.
Ventilation system.
The missing piece.

Jayhli looked down.
Quietly embarrassed for the first time all season.

“It’s stupid expensive.”

Justin picked up the paper.
Read it.
Whistled once.

“Yeah…”

A beat.

“…that’s painful.”

Jayhli laughed weakly.
Then finally admitted it:
“I don’t know if I can do both anymore.”

That landed hard.

Because Justin understood exactly what she meant.
The dream.
The pressure.
The work.
The exhaustion.
Trying to build something while surviving something else.

Justin leaned against the counter.
Looked around one more time.
Then finally said:
“You know what built J AND J?”

Jayhli shook her head slightly.

“Time.”

A pause.

“Not speed.”

Silence filled the room.
Warm.
Heavy.
Honest.

Justin nodded toward the dark windows outside.
“The town already believes in you.”
Then toward the unfinished space.
“And this isn’t going anywhere.”

Jayhli looked around slowly.
Like maybe for the first time…
She believed that too.

Outside…
Rain started again.
Soft this time.

At the shop, Jennifer turned the CLOSED sign around for the night.
Jordan parked the last truck.
Jagger fell asleep on the office couch.

And inside the farmhouse…
The lights stayed on.
Not because it was finished.
Not because it was open.
But because the dream was still alive.

🌲 Season 3
Episode 5 – “Not Good Enough”

The storm hit overnight.
Hard.

By sunrise, J AND J trucks were already rolling.

Trees down.
Roads blocked.
Phones nonstop.

Justin hadn’t slept.
Neither had Jennifer.

Jordan was already out with the stump grinder.

And somehow…
The farmhouse lights were still on too.

Rain tapped against the windows as Jayhli wiped down the counter for the third time.
Everything spotless.
Everything ready.

Again.

The bell above the door jingled.

Darla.

Early.
Very early.

She stepped inside, shaking rain off her clipboard.
Looked around slowly.
Too slowly.

Jayhli straightened up.
“We’re not even open yet.”

Darla ignored that.

Instead, she ran one finger across the counter.
Checked it dramatically.
Nothing there.

Then…

“The floor’s wet.”

Jayhli stared at her.
“It’s raining.”

Darla shrugged.
“Customers can slip.”

Jordan, sitting at a booth with a breakfast taco, whispered…
“She’s gotta be kidding…”

Darla walked toward the sink again.

Checked temperatures.
Checked labels.
Checked paperwork.
Long silence.

Finally…
“You forgot initials on line four.”

Jayhli blinked.
“That’s it?”

Darla looked up sharply.
“That’s not how inspections work.”

Jayhli grabbed the clipboard.
Wrote the initials.
Handed it back.

Done.

But Darla didn’t move on.
Didn’t leave.
Didn’t stop.

“This extension cord isn’t angled correctly.”

“It’s temporary until…”

“Still wrong.”

“That towel can’t hang there.”

“It’s drying.”

“Still against code.”

Justin walked in halfway through it.
Rain dripping off his jacket.
Already exhausted.

He looked from Jayhli…
To Darla…
To the untouched coffee sitting cold on the counter.

Nobody said anything at first.
But he could feel it.

The pressure.
The picking.
The constant pushing.

Darla pointed toward the storage shelf.
“What’s that box doing there?”

Jayhli answered immediately.
“Dry stock overflow.”

“Not approved.”

Something in Jayhli finally snapped.

Not loud.
Not explosive.
Just tired.

“I fixed everything.”

Silence.

Darla adjusted her clipboard.
“You fixed most things.”

Jayhli laughed once.
Disbelieving.
“You keep changing the target.”

Darla stepped closer.
Cold now.
“No. I keep raising the standard.”

That did it.

Justin finally spoke.

Calm.
Firm.
Enough.

“No.”

The room froze.
Darla turned slowly.

Justin stepped forward.

Not angry.
But done.

“You’re not testing the building anymore,” he said.
“You’re testing her.”

Silence.

Rain pounding outside.

Darla crossed her arms.
“My job is public safety.”

Justin nodded once.
“And she’s done everything you’ve asked.”

Darla didn’t answer.
Because she knew it was true.

Jayhli stood still behind the counter.
Hands shaking slightly.

Not from fear.
From frustration.

Justin looked back at her.
Then at the spotless café.
Then at the endless notes on Darla’s clipboard.

“You know what I think?” he said quietly.
“I think you’re scared somebody this young built something this good.”

That landed.
Hard.

For the first time all season…
Darla had no comeback.

Jagger slowly looked up.
“Dang…”

Even Jordan smirked from the doorway.

Jennifer tried hiding hers behind a coffee cup.

Darla closed the clipboard.

Sharp.
Controlled.
But rattled.

“I’ll return tomorrow.”

She turned for the door…
Then stopped.
Without looking back:
“Fix the floor mats.”

And left.

Silence.

Then…
Jayhli laughed.

Small at first.
Then real.
Because finally…
Someone had said it.

Justin grabbed the cold coffee off the counter.
Took a sip.
Made a face.
“Yeah… we’re fixing this too.”

The whole room cracked up.
Even Jayhli.

Outside…
The storm kept raging.

But inside?
Something had shifted.

For the first time…
Darla walked out feeling pressured.

Not Jayhli.

To be continued…
