This company was formed out of the hard work, blood, sweat, and tears that my grandfather Robert Bowsher put into it. He worked for a man for several years that had a hauling and excavating company and when that man retired that is when my grandfather decided to go out on his own. The man wrote an article and put it in the newspaper encouraging his customers and people to go to my grandfather for

future hauling and excavating services that they might need. Now to spring forward quite a bit I, Josh Bowsher, am the grandson of Robert Bowsher and the son of Mark & Penny Bowsher. I spent my childhood riding in a backhoe and a dump truck very similar to what you see above. My grandfather taught me the value of a dollar and that hard work always pays off. He also taught me that you will get farther in life if you treat people fairly. I grew up helping my grandfather put in field tile, perimeter drains, septic systems, and digging with the backhoe. I also always enjoyed riding in the dump truck and going to Ward Stone Quarry. Although I have not been able to perfect tailgating stone yet I remind myself that grandpa had over 50 years to practice. The dozer you see above was not running when I was a child, but my father and uncle Tom told me many stories about it. Steve Klopfenstein bought it and fully restored it and it looks just as good as the one pictured above. Steve was then gracious enough to sell it back to me last year so that I can proudly say that I now own all of the equipment that my grandfather had when he was working over the years. I took the company over as a hobby or side job and it continues to grow. I am happy to serve my neighbors and local people in the Buffalo, Monon, Francessville, and Monticello area knowing that I am carrying on a legacy that my grandfather started. Who knows, my son Levi may want to do this someday when he grows up just like his dad and great grandfather.

This is a new product and service offering that we became an exclusive dealer of in Indiana, so if you live on the lakes or have a pond or golf course with erosion issues then Bowsher Excavating can with the help of SOX Erosion Solutions give you reclamation options besides rip rap dressing on the bank. This first project was for a customer who has become a friend in the process! Steve Doll on the Bedford Bay couldn’t get enough and had us do 3 projects this year including a topcoat of a driveway, directional boring for new Carroll White REMC services and fiber as well as being the guinea pig for this new bank reclamation system! Thank you Steve and thank you to all the customers who trust us to complete any project they can come up with!

Now Hiring- Laborer position

Bowsher Excavating is looking to grow our crew. We are hiring for a laborer but there may be some operator opportunities as well. Primary responsibilities will include shovel and rake work, laying pipe, checking grade with laser. Experience is preferred but not required, OTJ training is available.

This position at times will require the candidate to work in the elements (gear provided) and sometimes travel with an occasional overnight stay. Must be able to work with a team and be self-motivated with a proactive approach.

Compensation package will include the following:
- Base salary
- Health insurance premium reimbursement
- Retirement with match
- Short/long term disability and $50k life insurance as a company paid benefit
- Cell phone reimbursement or added to company plan
- Paid time off
- Paid holidays

Horizontal Directional Drill Locator Position

Bowsher Excavating is looking to grow our crew. We are hiring for the growing utility construction business and the selected candidate will be responsible for operating a locator to assist with directional boring for underground utility construction. Experience is preferred but not required, OTJ training is available.

This position at times will require the candidate to work in the elements (gear provided) and sometimes travel with an occasional overnight stay. Must be able to work with a team and be self-motivated with a proactive approach.
