Monticello, help us celebrate another hometown great…

Eric Reed 💙⚾

This weekend, Eric will return to the field where it all began throwing out the First Pitch for MYSB Baseball and we couldn’t be more proud to honor his journey and legacy right here in Monticello.

Eric’s baseball story started on these same fields, playing Monticello Little League and Babe Ruth, where his love for the game first took root.

At Monticello High School, Eric was a standout multi-sport athlete, lettering in football, baseball, and powerlifting. He earned All-State honors in both football and baseball, setting the tone for what would become an incredible career.

That success led him to Texas A&M University, where he continued his baseball journey. During the summer of 2001, Eric played for the Wareham Gatemen in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League, earning All-Star honors and the Thurman Munson Award after leading the league with an outstanding .365 batting average.

In 2002, Eric’s hard work paid off when he was selected in the 9th round of the MLB Draft by the Florida Marlins, going on to play professionally from 2002–2007 in both the minors and Major League Baseball.

Today, Eric is back home in Monticello, pouring into the next generation, coaching his son’s little league team on the very same fields where his dream began.
