I started on this project in late October, working off and on for the past few months.
My buddy Ed wanted a tact box for his daughter and wanted me to work in some old oak he had that his grandfather used when he moved up here from Kentucky for a fence he built.
I wasn’t sure what I was going to be able to do with it since it was so old, had some rot, and a warp or two. But it planed up very nice and I was able to build the frame and lid out of the oak.
I used pine car siding for the panels and was able to burn and scrape it to give it a bit of character next to the oak.
Some rugged hardware, a removable sliding box inside, and this is what we came up with.
By far the most fun and stressful thing I’ve ever made.
