Project Spotlight: Greater Binghamton Airport Terminal Renovation

Welliver is proud to have served as the Construction Management Agent on this multi-phase terminal renovation—modernizing the airport while keeping it fully operational throughout construction. From geothermal installation and major MEP upgrades to new storefronts, boarding areas, and tenant-ready spaces for Delta and Avelo, this project delivers a more welcoming, efficient experience for travelers. Through strategic phasing and close coordination with Broome County, DOT, and TSA, we helped preserve revenue streams and support future growth for Binghamton’s gateway.

Proud to see Catherine Commons featured by Global Design News—a thoughtful, urban addition to Cornell’s Collegetown. With 356 apartments across four buildings, this project helps meet growing demand for student housing in Ithaca. Welliver was proud to serve as the general contractor on this complex new construction project.

Catherine Commons is an apartment-style residential community for the Cornell University off-campus student population in the Collegetown district of Ithaca, New York.The project consists of six residential buildings located on two adjacent sites: Catherine North and Catherine South.

🚧 Big Lift at Hornell High School! 🏗️

Welliver is proud to provide construction management services for the Hornell High School Competition Gym Project. This Liebherr 500-ton Hydraulic Truck Crane is playing a crucial role in bringing this major campus transformation to life.

This two-story expansion delivers significant upgrades, including a new elevator, three stairwells, all new AHUs, terrazzo flooring, metal panel ceilings, a new weight room, girls’ locker room, concession stand, referee shower rooms, wrestling room, updated corridors, new wall tile throughout, a new canopy, and new sidewalks. Outdoor improvements include a new turf field, goal posts, upgraded scoreboard and track timing technology, and a full track resurfacing.

Demolition efforts cleared the way by removing the main gym and its foundations, locker room areas, lobby spaces, gang bathrooms, fitness and wrestling rooms, part of the boys’ locker room, and a Musco light tower with foundation.

Proud to see this project rising—one lift at a time! 💪🏽🏗️

Proud moment for the Welliver team!

Our very own Superintendent, Doug Sheerer, played a key role in Cornell University’s Meinig Fieldhouse construction during the spring of 2025 — and his work didn’t go unnoticed.

Doug was recently featured in a Living Bird article by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, which showcases how he and the construction team thoughtfully balanced progress with protecting Big Red, the campus’s beloved Red‑tailed Hawk. From coordinating around nest sites to supporting bird‑safe design features, Doug helped ensure that nature and construction could thrive together.

✨ Project Spotlight: Statler Hotel Conference Center Renovation ✨

Welliver recently transformed the Statler Hotel’s outdated conference rooms and corridor into a modern, upscale meeting environment. The project included full demolition, reconfigured room layouts, custom carpet, walnut millwork, international aluminum storefront systems, a new stone serving counter, and integrated lighting throughout.

Working in a busy corridor required careful planning, temporary partitions, and precise sequencing—especially with long‑lead custom materials sourced internationally.

The result? A refreshed, high‑quality conference space that enhances the guest experience and supports the hotel’s growing event needs.

🎥 Project Spotlight: McGraw Tower Restoration at Cornell University

We’re excited to share the completed restoration of McGraw Tower—a historic structure standing 172 feet tall and cherished across the Cornell campus.

This complex project included a full replacement of the deteriorated roof, construction of a custom scaffolding system reaching the full height of the spire, and the expertise of highly skilled Lead Sheetmetal Workers from Canada. The result is a historically faithful, structurally sound spire that will preserve this landmark for decades to come.

𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗶𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗼-𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗖𝗦𝗗 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹!

As the days get longer and the fields turn greener, we’re celebrating major progress on the brand‑new Sports Complex that kicked off this past year!

From football to soccer to flag football, this multi‑sport field was designed to bring our students and community all the game‑day energy. Here’s a peek at what’s been happening behind the scenes:

𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱, 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗘𝗿𝗮
Our cutting‑edge turf field features a FieldTurf system by Tarkett Sports, complete with a full perimeter under‑drainage network to handle stormwater from the surrounding track. And we needed it — spring 2025 brought nearly 2 inches of rain every week for eight straight weeks! Our team pivoted fast with on‑site water mitigation strategies to keep the subgrade and drainage system protected.

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀
We installed a massive 130 ft x 60 ft subsurface retention system from Advanced Drainage Systems, ensuring this field stays game‑ready no matter the forecast.

𝗨𝗽𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗢𝘂𝘁
To support the new turf, we added a concrete curb around the inner track, plus:

• A brand‑new long/triple jump runway and pit
• A dedicated high jump area
• New foundations for game clocks and goal posts

The surrounding track got a fresh new surface, a crisp paint scheme, and all‑new access and sliding gates.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝘄-𝗨𝗽
The concession building also received some love, including:

• Fresh exterior paint
• New interior flooring
• Full restroom renovations — new tile, fixtures, partitions, and doors!

𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗞𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗼𝗳𝗳
Despite the curveballs Mother Nature threw at us, the full project was completed ahead of the first sporting event on September 5, 2025.

Spring is coming — and so is an incredible season of student athletics on a field built to last.
