Quick tip for growing luscious lawns👉🏼 Keep those blades on high.

While it might be tempting to lower the blade to try to lengthen the time between mows, it's best not to cut too short. Scalping your lawn can kill it, but even if your yard is a survivor, there are other reasons to opt for more frequent, moderate mows.

☀️Taller lawns need less watering and fertilizing. Why? Longer grass grows deeper roots, allowing it better access to underground water sources.

☀️The denser root system also promotes grub control, which can heavily reduce or even eliminate the need for pesticides.

☀️Those longer blades provide more shade, too, for cooler soil temperatures. Shady soil also helps deter broadleaf w**d and crab grass. Another win for a healthier scape without needing to load up on the pesticides.

So, how low should you mow? 3" is a standard recommendation for the summer. Resign yourself to more frequent mows for the good of the green. You'll be happy you did once your healthy lawn care routines have your grass looking greener on YOUR side of the fence. Or, just call James. He'll mow it for you.

If your lawn is sporting winter-worn bald spots this spring, overseeding can help rejuvenate and replenish those luscious locks. Here are some quick tips for helping your lawn reclaim its former glory:

*Mow it low. 1.5 to 2 inches allows for the ideal seed to soil contact. To keep clippings from getting in the way, bag 'em up!

*Choose your seed wisely. Some types tolerate shade, others love full sun. Precipitation, foot traffic, and other factors can make a huge difference. Take stock of your environment and pick with purpose.

*Prep the soil. Breaking up the top layer with a rake or fully aerating the area creates a more welcoming landscape for your new seed.

*Scatter and spread. In small spots, you can hand scatter your seed. For larger areas, a spreader may be a better idea. Whatever method you choose, make sure you're getting even coverage. Going back over the area with the rake, aerator, or vertical mower will help plant your seed more firmly.

*Nurture growth. Keep the area moist with light watering once per day and mow frequently until the seedlings have caught up to the original growth at about 2". Then increase mow length to a standard 3" height.

Prefer watching your lawn grow from the comfort of the porch swing? No worries, just call James! Green Sky will take care of you.

As the days grow longer, so does your grass. Prepare for outdoor living season by doing a quick inventory of your lawn care equipment. Make sure everything is running smoothly before you need it.

*Spring clean down under. Scrape any dried mud or grass clippings that have been clinging to the undercarriage since last season. (Avoid flipping gas mowers upside down!)

*Check the oil, Slick. After hibernating for the winter, your mower needs to have the oil refreshed or replaced before running. Check your manual for specifics for your model.

*Nurture the spark! The spark plugs need to be changed about every 100 hours to keep your mower purring all season long.

*Clear the air! Clean or change the air filter for ultimate efficiency. While a good rule of green thumb is to swap these every 3 months, spring is the perfect time to start fresh.

*Stay sharp! The blades get most of the glory, but only if you keep them in fighting shape. Sharpen or replace your blade to avoid any hang-ups.

*Freshen up the fuel. Stale fuel could lead to a rough start. If you didn't winterize with fuel stabilizer, consider using a baster to remove the old fluids for a clean start this season.

Sound overwhelming? You can always just call James! He's got his own equipment.

Is your gourd river-ready? 😂

Travelling in a nearly 850-pound pumpkin, it was estimated the journey would take roughly six hours.
