The new water treatment facility in Milford, Iowa is officialy up and running, with demolition of the old plant now underway!

This project consisted of a conventional filtration surface water treatment facility capable of handling 1400 GPM. The treatment process includes several key stages - coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection - to ensure clean reliable effluent.

Projects like this are what we love - delivering clean, reliable water infrastructure that communities can count on for decades to come. A big thanks goes out to everyone who was involved in this project!

John T. Jones Construction Co. is the proud recipient of the prestigious Eagle Award for the 2025 MN/ND ABC Excellence in Construction Competition in the Category of Public Works/Environmental of $5 Million or more for our work on the Kearney WRRF Project!

More About the Project:

John T. Jones Construction Co., in conjunction with Miller Engineering, constructed Phase 2 for the City of Kearney, Nebraska Wastewater Treatment Facility. This was the City of Kearney’s largest municipal project to date. The project featured a 150’ x 160’ aeration basin, two 100’ diameter clarifiers, multiple splitter structures and a large headworks building that hosted all the major equipment needed for the treatment process. The project also required over 13,000 linear feet of site pipe, heavy concrete (approximately 8,500 cubic yards), precast er****on, equipment/pipe installation, and extensive bypassing. Through detailed planning and clear communication, John T. Jones was able to mitigate these challenges and provide the City of Kearney, NE, with a plant capable of treating over 18 million gallons of water per day. John T. Jones would like to thank the City of Kearney and Miller Engineering, along with all others who worked together on this, assuring the successful completion of this project.
