Family Friday!

For this week’s Family Friday, we’re featuring Devin and Nicolas Waters! This father-son duo joined the GDS team together on the same day in March 2022 and have been part of the family ever since.

Devin works as a Lead Technician, while Nicolas keeps things running behind the scenes as our Warehouse Manager. One of Devin’s favorite things about working at GDS is getting to work alongside his son, and Nicolas says the family atmosphere is one of his favorite parts of being here.

We think it’s pretty special when family gets to work with family!

Family Fun Day!

Nothing beats getting the whole crew together outside of work! Our team and their families enjoyed a Family Fun Day hosted by Dusty Georges and his family, with plenty of good food, lake time, sunshine, volleyball, and lots of laughs.

Think you don’t have enough space above your garage door? You may have more options than you think!

A standard sectional garage door typically requires 12–18 inches of headroom, but special track options can accommodate garages with unique layouts. Options include low-headroom, vertical lift, follow-the-roofline, and hi-lift tracks.

Check out the pictures for two great examples! The first picture shows a hi-lift track, which allows the door to travel higher before transitioning to a horizontal position. The second picture shows a straight vertical lift track, where the door travels straight up to take advantage of a high ceiling.

Your garage door shouldn’t sound like it’s fighting for its life.

Grinding, squeaking, popping, or scraping noises can be an early sign that something isn’t working the way it should. Worn rollers, loose hardware, spring issues, or other moving parts could be the culprit.

Catching a small problem early can help prevent a much bigger repair later!

⭐ Tuesday Tip: If your garage door suddenly starts making a new or unusual noise, don’t ignore it. Have it checked before that little noise turns into a door that won’t open at all.

Welcome back to Tip Tuesday, our weekly series where we share simple tips to help keep your garage door safe and operating smoothly.

Do you know what the red cord hanging from your garage door opener is for?

It's called the emergency release. If your power goes out, pulling the red cord disconnects the opener so you can open and close your garage door manually.

Knowing how it works before you need it can save you a lot of frustration during a power outage.

Important: Only reconnect the opener after the door is fully closed to help prevent damage or unexpected movement.
