Todays job. Had to troubleshoot a lighting circuit that only had a slight glow in the lights. The owner said he thought a wire got crossed somewhere when the handy man wired the lights. Found out that it was an issue where the lights were only getting about 5-10v and about 110-115v was going to ground. Some tracing of where the power to ground was originating from a couple receptacles where someone had pushed the wires into the back of the receptacle and they had come out; the big reason why I’m against using that technique and method for receptacles. While troubleshooting I noticed one of the switch boxes had the back cut out and needed replaced with a new one.
