Safety as Second Nature – Mending Misconceptions in Our Industry

While it is true that working in arboriculture comes with potential exposure to serious workplace hazards, a common misconception to people outside the industry is that these hazards are unavoidable.

The truth is, a professional arborist receives training and education to safely practice the art and science of tree care maintenance. Unfortunately, some “arborists” forgo the training and jump right into cutting trees with chain saws, completely ignorant to the risks they pose to themselves and their customers. Trees end up damaged or disfigured, or worse yet on the house roof, due to unprofessional, unsafe practitioners.

Like any other activity with attendant hazards you can safely grow in the arboriculture industry with the right education and skillsets. In fact, arboriculture is such a highly skilled trade, numerous professional credentials available to arborists to further their training, and it has even become apprentice-able in some states.
