I wanted to share a recent project that really reminds me why I got into radon mitigation in the first place. This home belongs to a realtor friend who has been seeing more and more real estate transactions come back with high radon levels, so she decided it was time to have her own home tested. A licensed home inspector performed the test, and the results came back at an extremely dangerous, 180 pCi/L.
After I installed a mitigation system, the levels were reduced to 0.5 pCi/L.
To put that into perspective, the Environmental Protection Agency recommends taking action at 4.0 pCi/L. This home went from off-the-charts hazardous to well below recommended levels.
Radon is invisible, odorless, and the second leading cause of lung cancer. Most families never know it’s there unless they test. Helping families make their homes safer and healthier is exactly why I chose this line of work.
If you’ve never tested your home, inexpensive radon test kits are easy to find at stores like Menards and Lowe’s for peace of mind.
