Ever notice a contractor who says "we're licensed and insured" but never actually shows you a license number? That's worth pausing on.

In Minnesota, licensed residential contractors are required to display their license number on contracts, advertising, and vehicles. If a number isn't showing up anywhere, that's a red flag — not a technicality.

The good news: you don't have to take anyone's word for it!
Head to the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry website and use their license lookup tool.
Search the business name and you'll see exactly what license they hold, whether it's active, and if there's any disciplinary history on file.

Popcorn ceiling be gone!

We started this project by removing the popcorn texture completely, skim coating it flat, and applying a fresh knockdown texture for a clean, modern look. Along the way we repaired nail holes and fixed some old patch jobs that were showing through the previous paint — texture matching them so the repairs blend in seamlessly. Everything was primed and topcoated with Sherwin-Williams Emerald for a smooth, lasting finish.

The built-in linen closet got the full treatment too — sanded down, oil-based primer, and sprayed with Benjamin Moore ScuffX for a durable finish that cleans up easily and resists scratches, nicks, and dings!

Another job done right!

This one started with ceiling damage in the kitchen and both bathrooms caused by plumbing issues. Before we even got started, another leak popped up — so we made the call to get that fixed first. Good thing we did, because it turned out some pipes needed replacing too! Once that was squared away, we finished up by repairing the remaining stress cracks in the work areas and got everything primed and painted for a clean, finished look.

This was a fun weekend project! The lighter color is repose gray and the accent color is slate tile which the customers opted for Sherwin-Williams super paint. As anyone knows it's pretty hard to get straight crisp lines with a knockdown texture on the walls, but this turned out amazing.

We've had multiple estimates now to repair drywall finishing after the homeowners already paid to have it finished. Sometimes going the cheaper route ends up costing you in the long run. We have successfully completed the texturing phase and are now advancing to the next stage, which involves refining the walls prior to priming. This project has been substantial in scope and complexity; however, we are thoroughly satisfied with the final outcome!

We were able to texture the upstairs this afternoon after finishing up sanding this morning! Back to texturing tomorrow ...
