In 2007, Quality Glass Block helped bring new life to the historic Bank Note Lofts in Chicago, transforming a fire-damaged building into luxury condominiums.
Ray and Chris provided technical expertise and preconstruction consultation for the installation of Pittsburgh Corning Decora glass block panels, including a striking two-story installation above the parking garage. The project required innovative solutions, from accommodating ventilation systems with vibration dampeners to working around fire-damaged structural elements.
One fascinating discovery? The original glass block installation used horsehair backer rod, offering a glimpse into the building methods of the past.
And one unforgettable memory? While measuring the upper openings from a lift, Chris—who isn't fond of heights—was crouched down as Russ Sherry playfully rocked the lift, while Ray watched from below laughing the whole time!
For 50 years, every project has come with its own challenges, lessons, and stories. Thank you for being part of our journey.
