About
Growing up, my dad was always a dozer operator for one of the local businesses. Although he never had his own business, he was widely known as the best dozer man around. As any boy would, I watched my dad and learned a lot from him. As I got older I honed my own talents, skills and knowledge, not only in the operation of the machinery but in many other important facets essential to what I was doing with the machinery. Then in 1994, I took a huge leap of faith and started my own business.
Throughout my career I’ve been blessed with so many opportunities, a diverse body of work, and of course many wonderful clients that have also become treasured friends. In the early days, during the boon of government assisted erosion control projects, I built so many ponds I wish now I’d kept track of how many. Partnering with the USDA-NRCS (Natural Resources Conservation Service) became a vital way of life for a contractor trying to provide the most accurate and beneficial information to his clients. Over the years, my work evolved to include a large number of nuisance cedar tree removal and wetland restoration/enhancement projects. Again, knowledge of the resources is essential to assisting clients with these types of projects.
In addition to the passion I have for my craft and the quality of work that I produce, the knowledge I’ve gained about land characteristics have allowed me to provide effective, practical solutions to clients. My job is to help people accomplish their goals for their land by helping them evaluate variables such as drainage patterns, soil types, vegetation and much more. For example, someone may want to hire me to build them a pond. They may have the perfect location in mind but in consultation with them, I may find that there’s not enough drainage to support what they had in mind. I certainly don’t want to spend my time and their money on something that won’t work. Maybe I can help them find a suitable alternative. People will ask me, “how much do you charge to build a pond?” That’s simply not a question I can answer without looking at the site and talking to them about what they want to accomplish with it. There are just so many variables to consider when working with natural resources. Even a per-hour price has to take into account the size of the machine and the experience and skill of the operator. In this business there are no “money-back guarantees”. There’s only my word and a handshake that I’ll do what I know to do to help you accomplish your goals as efficiently and effectively as possible. That’s just me and the way I do business.
