From a leak and a torn-out floor to this. ✨

New flooring is in at the Moscow kitchen repair, and it's hard to believe this is the same space from a few weeks ago. Underneath it: a brand-new dry subfloor and the peace of mind that the problem is actually fixed — not hidden.

Next up, the kitchen goes back together piece by piece.

And just like that, we're building again.

New plywood subfloor going down at the Moscow kitchen repair — dry, solid, and screwed down tight. After all the demo and drying out, this is the turning point where the job stops being about removing damage and starts being about putting the kitchen back together.

Nobody ever sees the subfloor again after this week. But everything that comes next sits on top of it, so it gets done right.

This kitchen here in Moscow had a leak — and water damage doesn't stay where you can see it.
So before anything new goes in, the floor came out and the kitchen came apart. That's Clay walking the space, making sure we've found the full extent of the damage and that everything left behind is dry and solid.

It's more demo than anyone hopes for, but it's the only way to fix the problem instead of just covering it up. Flooring goes back in next, and from here it's all rebuild.

Water is sneaky. It travels along the subfloor, soaks in where you can't see it, and by the time it shows up on the surface, the damage underneath is usually bigger than anyone expects.

With tile floors, don't brush off these early warning signs: grout cracking, tiles popping loose or sounding hollow, soft spots, or a musty smell that doesn't go away. If you're seeing any of that — don't wait on it. The earlier a leak gets caught, the smaller this photo gets.

Tile demo day. 🔨

There's no gentle way to take out a tile floor — it comes up one stubborn piece at a time. The guys made quick work of this one as part of a kitchen repair here in Moscow, where a leak meant the flooring had to go.
Loud, dusty, and oddly satisfying to watch.

Not every project is a full remodel. Sometimes it's a porch.

This one had old outdoor carpet that was ripping up and honestly becoming a trip hazard every time it rained. We tore it off, repaired what was underneath, and rebuilt the steps into something solid that'll hold up to Palouse weather.

Progress at a basement bedroom remodel in Moscow — the crew is cutting in egress windows.

If you've ever wondered why a basement bedroom can't legally be called a bedroom without one, this is it: code requires a window big enough to climb out of in an emergency. That means cutting through the foundation, framing the opening, and setting a window and well that actually work when it counts.

It's loud, dusty work — but when it's done, these rooms will be safer, brighter, and add real value to the home.

Mid-project on a bathroom remodel here in Moscow. When we pulled up the floor, we found moisture damage underneath.

So that's Clay in the crawl space, checking the whole area before we put anything back. It adds time to the job, but skipping this step is how bathrooms end up failing five years later.

Not the prettiest part of a remodel — but it's the part that matters most.
