I will not say that installing the outlet here in the face up orientation is wrong. What I will say is this... If you have the ability to install the outlet in an orientation that is more conducive to safety for the worker and the equipment, take the little bit of extra time and do it in a manner that makes it better. Yeah it would work the way it was installed, but for an extra 30 bucks it could be a whole lot better.
