ABC Keystone held their 65th anniversary Excellence in Construction Awards last week. Flyway Excavating was proud to receive two awards. In the Public Works/Infrastructre category, we won the Excellence Award for the Long’s Park Water Quality Improvement Project. In the Miscellaneous/Special Projects category, we won the Excellence Award for the Conewago Creek Floodplain Restoration.

During the construction industry's National Safety Stand Down to Prevent Falls week, May 6-10, we held a training session to address the important issue of safety. Height-related accidents are the primary cause of fatalities within construction, claiming over 350 lives annually. Additionally, we hosted a guest speaker, Jason from Warfel, who delivered insights on chain saw safety. Jason discussed the importance of maintaining chainsaws in a safe and efficient manner, emphasizing the significance of wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as chaps, to minimize potential injuries.

Allison Crane and Rigging assisted us in setting of a 100' fiberglass bridge. The bridge was purchased from E. T. Techtonics for our job at Frances Slocum State Park. The bridge will provide access across the dam spillway for pedestrians.

Flyway Excavating is growing! We are pleased to announce that we have a new Laborer on our crew. John Pitman started working for us on February 19. Yesterday we also welcomed another CTC student. Derick Kinser will be working for us two days a week. Welcome guys!
