In this episode of People Behind the Pyramid, meet Brandon Weaver, Fleet Manager at The Witmer Group. We’re taking a closer look at the different parts of the shop, the people who keep them running, and how their individual responsibilities connect to the needs of our field teams.

October’s Employee of the Month, Logan Herrick, has been with The Witmer Group since 2014. He first got into construction through a summer job at 14, then studied masonry at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology before joining Witmer after graduation.

Logan enjoys the variety of restoration work. One day he might be grinding out joints, and the next he could be laying brick or making repairs. Moving from the classroom into the field took some adjustment, especially after studying new masonry. With help from John Bricker, Clarence Trump, and Nate Dommel, he built his restoration skills and grew from primarily laboring to handling a wide range of tasks.

The people he works with motivate Logan to come in and do a good job each day. He hopes to continue growing into a leadership role.

Outside of work, Logan enjoys skiing, mountain biking, whitewater kayaking, and backpacking, especially in West Virginia.

Before the classrooms take shape, the work starts here.

At New Oxford Elementary, our masonry crews are laying concrete block foundation walls, giving an early look at the building’s layout before construction moves above ground.

Much of this work will eventually be out of sight. Right now, you can see the careful layout, reinforcing steel, and masonry work that will help support the school above it.

If you’ve walked past the Hamilton Club in Lancaster City, you know the building catches your eye.

The historic clubhouse has been part of East Orange Street for over a century. Now, our crew has installed stone veneer along its new entrance ramp. They carefully cut and fit the stone around the entrance details.

It’s that time of year! 🧱

Our team returned to ABC Keystone’s Construction Wars to give middle school students a hands-on introduction to masonry and the careers they can build in the trades.

Representing The Witmer Group, Steve Mease, Gregg Bixler, and Alenna Dingman helped students try their hand at laying brick, sharing their knowledge and giving them a chance to experience the work for themselves.

Construction Wars is an event we look forward to each year. It gives students room to ask questions, learn something new, and discover whether working with their hands could be part of their future.

If you needed the fire extinguisher near your work area today, would it be ready?

For National Fire Prevention Month, take a minute to check. Can you get to it easily? Is the gauge in the green? Are the pin and seal intact? If anything looks wrong, let your supervisor know.

It’s a small check that helps keep our crews prepared on every jobsite.

Earn while you learn.

Our masonry apprentices build their skills on jobsites and in the classroom. They work alongside experienced craftspeople and learn techniques they can carry throughout their careers.

Recently, our Training & Development Specialist, Denny Comp, shared that opportunity with high school students visiting an active Pyramid Construction Services jobsite. He talked to them about what apprentices learn, what the work is like, and how they can build a career in masonry.

Thank you to Pyramid Construction Services for inviting us to have that conversation with students who will be the future of the trade.

A facility’s floor needs to hold up to the work happening on them every day. Our team handles industrial flooring, concrete repairs, protective coatings, pedestrian walkways, and safety striping to help keep those spaces in good working order.

Lancaster is getting national attention, and we’re proud to have had a hand in preserving it.

CNN Travel’s recent feature on Lancaster highlights the The Thaddeus Stevens & Lydia Hamilton Smith Center for History & Democracy. The Witmer Group worked on the historic brick buildings that are now home to the center.

September’s Employee of the Month, Mike Wolpert, has been part of The Witmer Group’s coatings team for more than two years.

Mike found his way into the trade after high school, starting in the warehouse of a paint company before moving to the equipment side and gaining experience with flooring. That path eventually led him to The Witmer Group.

What he enjoys most is seeing a floor come together. The preparation and repair work may be demanding, but watching a worn surface turn into a clean, finished floor makes the effort worthwhile.

Mike credits the coatings crew for helping him build his skills. From hand grinding and diamond tooling to learning the right techniques for each application, the team has shared its knowledge and given him the time to improve.

The crew is also what keeps Mike motivated each day. They hold one another to a standard, step in when someone needs help, and keep the job enjoyable along the way.

Outside of work, Mike enjoys fishing, being outdoors, and taking cruises. His hard work, willingness to learn, and commitment to his crew make him a well-deserved choice for September’s Employee of the Month.
