Investing in the spaces where students learn, connect, and grow.

At Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School, targeted renovations and building upgrades
refresh key instructional and shared spaces, including the gymnasium, cafeteria, library,
and courtyard. Improvements to classrooms, finishes, windows, and building systems also
enhance comfort, functionality, and day-to-day performance.

Together, these improvements create more comfortable, flexible spaces that support the
needs of students and staff while extending the long-term functionality and value of the
facility.

Thoughtful improvements can make a meaningful difference in the spaces where students learn, connect, and grow.

At Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School, targeted renovations and infrastructure upgrades refreshed key learning, athletic, arts, and shared spaces—creating more functional, flexible, and welcoming environments for students and staff.

Each improvement was designed to address the District’s priorities while extending the long-term functionality and value of the facility.

Spaces that Support Brighter Tomorrows.

“Connection to nature isn’t just beautiful – it’s essential. Biophilic design helps create environments where people feel calmer, more focused, and more connected, which can have a meaningful impact on mental health.” - Sarah D***a, AIA, LEED AP - Principal

Architecture is more than a building. It’s a place to learn, connect, create, gather, and grow.

This World Architecture Day, we’re celebrating the many ways architecture shapes the places—and possibilities—that matter to our communities.

From classrooms to community centers, we’re proud to design environments that support the people who use them today and for generations to come.

Happy World Architecture Day from KG+D.

The construction is complete, the space is ready, and it's time to capture the finished project.

Final photography is one of our favorite parts of the process—a chance to step back, see the design come to life, and document the details, materials, and spaces that make each project unique.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at a recent KG+D project getting ready for its close-up.

Architectural Record’s annual Cocktail Napkin Sketch Contest celebrates the art of architectural sketching, inviting architects, students, and related professionals to create quick, expressive designs on a 5-by-5-inch cocktail napkin using ink or ballpoint pen.

Inspired by this tradition, KG+D hosted a Napkin Sketch Happy Hour, bringing the team together to put pen to napkin and explore ideas through quick, creative sketches.

KG+D was honored to join the CCNW team, Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, community partners, local leaders, clergy, and neighbors for the ribbon cutting and open house this week.

Built by the community, for the community.

KG+D partnered with the Community Center of Northern Westchester on the expansion and renovation of its existing facility, creating a more functional, welcoming, and efficient resource for Northern Westchester neighbors in need.

The project includes a 3,500 SF addition and reimagined interior spaces that expand and improve the food pantry, clothing boutique, donation processing, meeting and education spaces, and private areas for client services. Site improvements also enhance accessibility, parking, circulation, deliveries, and overall day-to-day operations.

Most importantly, the project strengthens CCNW’s ability to serve its community today—and for generations to come.
We’re proud to have been part of this important chapter and grateful to everyone who helped bring this vision to life.

Congratulations, CCNW!
