As we gear up for another exciting gas storage season in Michigan alongside a valued customer, we’re looking back at our successful 2025 drilling program. This video highlights the capabilities of our exclusive walking substructure system while batch drilling multiple dual-lateral horizontal wells.

While walking packages are common on large drilling rigs, they are rarely seen on an intermediate-sized 200K class rig. That’s where the Highlands Drilling exclusive Walking Substructure System sets us apart. Proven time and again in the field, this system helps our customers reduce costs and improve operational efficiency through fast, seamless, and safe well-to-well moves on location.

With a 25’ KB height, the rig has the capacity to accommodate large BOP stacks typically associated with much larger rigs. This allows us to safely set top holes through active storage zones where multiple large BOPs are required. The system’s twin 10-ton pneumatic hoists are capable of carrying and handling a complete well control package while in walking mode.

Even with 70,000 lbs. of drilling tubulars standing in the derrick and a full 13.625”, 5K well control system in the substructure, walk times averages ~30 minutes to walk from wellbore to wellbore — delivering the speed, efficiency, safety, and performance our customers depend on.

The numbers are in, and the numbers don’t lie!

2025 was a milestone year for Highlands Drilling, marked by growth, efficiency, and operational excellence.

We successfully commissioned another rig—Rig 9—expanding our capabilities and strengthening our ability to deliver for our customers. This increased activity drove a 21.32% increase in rig time. What’s most impressive, this increased activity was achieved while simultaneously reducing downtime by 8.22%, a testament to our crew’s focus on performance, maintenance, and continuous improvement.

Commissioning another rig brings on a set of challenges within itself. We cannot thank our customers enough for the opportunities to work together, as well as everyone within Highlands Drilling who worked so hard to make it happen. These accomplishments reflect the dedication, expertise, and teamwork that define Highlands Drilling. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved in 2025 and look forward to building on this momentum throughout 2026.
