Today, we commenced a new project, where a homeowner, returning from winter, discovered significant water damage and mold in their basement. Prior to identifying the source, the city shut off the main water supply. Our team was tasked with locating and capping the broken water lines. Notably, Cole learned that even with the main water supply turned off, residual pressure in the lines may still exist. As his supervisor, I allowed him to discover this important lesson through hands-on experience as you can see in the second video.

Revisiting our Wednesday post... We cautioned the client that a budget-friendly approach may not yield optimal outcomes. As evident, the staining is noticeably lighter, if not entirely eliminated. While we still do not recommend the budget option, it has met the homeowner's expectations, which is our top priority.

We believe in being transparent with our customers: when choosing a budget remediation option, we may not always achieve the results we typically strive for with a full professional remediation process.

*Here is a fun fact - The wood MAY continue to lighten up over the next few days as the temperature rises within the attic space. A final check is scheduled to take place for final pictures*

A budget treatment can help reduce visible staining and treat the affected area, but in our professional opinion, it is often more of a Band-Aid approach than a complete long-term solution. Every attic is different, and deeply embedded staining may remain even after treatment.

At Minorik Mitigation, our preferred approach is a complete remediation process that may include HEPA vacuuming, detailed cleaning, mechanical removal or sanding when appropriate, stain treatment, and antimicrobial application. That process gives us the opportunity to achieve the level of results we truly want to put our name behind.
