These are before and after pics of custom trim and railings we did. It's amazing what the details can do. it turns a house into a home. They include new doors, casing, knee walls, panels and crown.

This is the reason why it is so important that the windows in your home conform to minimum egress requirements. Even if you can fit through, others may not. If your replacing existing windows that don't meet code, you should modify the opening to fit the proper size. Thanks Rob Garafalo for the idea.

3D Design
I have recently added new design software to my arsenal. I now have the ability to personally work through the entire design phase of any of your projects. These would include additions, dormers, kitchens, baths, and more. One of the biggest obstacles in renovations is not being able to visualize the finished product. Now, with this new software, I am able to create the final product before the first nail is even set.

Ice Dams
How many people had problems this winter with ice dams? Here on Long Island and vicinity, we had the perfect temperatures for them. They develop in the range of 5 degrees to 25 degrees. It's not cold enough to keep the roof area frozen and not warm enough for the eaves to melt. The 2nd photo is an ice dam that was 16'x 6' and 6" thick. I removed it to stop the water from getting into the room below.
Even though winter should be leaving, she'll be back. The way to avoid or minimize these is with proper insulation and ventilation. The 3rd picture illustrates this. So between now and next winter it would be wise to address your insulation and air sealing issues. I can advise, help or recommend an insulation contractor to do this.
The other benefit of this is increased energy savings, so you will get your money back over time.

A great room renovation. The fireplace was originally in the center of the room. We demolished it and moved it to the rear wall. Re-framed the exterior walls for new Andersen windows and sliders. Included wide plank stained oak flooring, oak rails with iron balusters and a prefab fireplace finished with cultured stone. The mantle was originally a rough sawn log from a mill laying on the ground. I shaped it, debarked it, burnt it and finished it. I love the front face.

This was a garage conversion I finished this past fall. It was a one car garage and small den. We took out the dividing wall and made it one big room. The rear 4 panel slider used to be a single door and a window. Includes custom mill work, floating laminate flooring and oak railings with iron balusters.
