One final post for tonight! We held our annual fishing night and cookout a couple of weeks ago and had a great time! We failed to get very many pictures but it was a great night of fishing, playing yard games, listening to music, and hanging out by the fire! 🍂🍁🔥🎣

Last night, we traveled to Mt. Zion High School to compete in the Section 16 Food Science CDE. Our varsity team consisted of Izzy Martin, Brookelyn Jackson, Noah Hebert and Cooper Elliott. As a team, they placed 5th overall with Noah Hebert being the 7th place individual overall! We also competed in the Section 16 Food Science Invitational and that team consisted of Avery Canaday, Brooke Walker, Huck Lowrance and Ty Burgener. They placed 4th as a team and Grace Bright was the 1st place individual overall and Ty Burgener was the 7th place individual! Grace competed on the Super 16 team which consisted of 4 students total - Grace + 2 Sullivan members and 1 Sangamon Valley member. Their team placed 1st overall in the invitational! It was a fun evening changing things up a bit!

For this CDE, members completed a content test over Food Science, worked through Food Science math practicum problems, tested their aroma knowledge, worked through customer inquiry statements, completed triangle tests, and completed a team problem together.

Great job to all!

Fantastic job to our chapter president, Isabella Martin for competing in the a District 4 Job Interview LDE on Wednesday evening at Lake Land College! Isabella advanced on from the Section 16 competition in September and turned in a resume and cover letter ahead of time. On Wednesday she filled out a job application, went through a Zoom Screening Interview, had a personal interview, and then wrote a follow up letter for a position she was applying for as a horse trainer. Isabella represented our chapter well and we are so proud of her! This contest is such a great opportunity for members to gain valuable skills that they will use no matter what they do after high school. Awesome job Izzy!

✨💙National Convention Day 4💙✨

Today was the 4th and final day of the 2026 National FFA Convention! This morning, we had the honor of rooting Laynee Dunakey on as she received her American FFA Degree! This is the highest degree bestowed upon an FFA member and less than 1% of FFA members receive this degree! We are so proud of Laynee and the hardwork and determination that went into earning this huge accomplishment! Throughout the years of her SAE, she grew a very successful business in her community and surrounding communities which led her to be able to earn this degree! Congratulations Laynee, on this huge accomplishment! We are so proud of you! What a way to cap off your FFA career! 💛💙

✨💙National Convention Day 3💙✨
Today we started at the Career Show and Expo! We took lots of pictures, talked to lots of people, and learned many new things! We then went to Ozark Fisheries in Martinsville for a tour! We learned about their goldfish and koi business, how they spawn, grow, and sell! We then ended the night at TopGolf with lots of laughter, a little bit of competition, and a few bad swings! It was another great day of making memories and connections!

We are super excited for Day Four where we will get to see our very own, Laynee Dunakey, receive her American FFA Degree! The culmination of years of hard work and dedication! 💙💛

✨💙National Convention Day 2💙✨

We started off our morning with a great tour at Timmons Feed & Farm Supply! After that we headed to the Career Show and Expo for a quick trip where members got to talk to different companies and colleges and do a little FFA shopping. We then attended the 2nd general session where they announced National Afro Science Fair winners, top middle school chapter’s, proficiency winners, CDE and LDE winners, and we got to hear the Eastern Region Vice President, Joey Nowotny’s retiring address! For our evening activity we enjoyed riding go carts! We ended the night at Olive Garden for some dinner! It was another great day at convention and we are looking forward to tomorrow’s adventures!
