Chicken popper flautas, pickled diced jalapeños and arroz poblano cremoso on the recipe docket for this batch of peppers picked yesterday.

Not quite sure what to do with the serranos yet.

I only have 3 lemons on my little tree but one of them is BIG!

Lemons take so long to ripen…going to have to make something special with them. 🤔

Butternut squash are rejuvenated with the cooler weather and growing like crazy! Let’s see if any mature before the first freeze.

Today was haircut day for the onion seedlings planted back on 9/29.

Trim seedlings when they grow tall and get leggy, or start tangling and bending over (usually around 6 inches tall).

Take off only the top portion—typically cutting back to about 2 to 3 inches.

Doing this will keep the stems sturdier, make them easier to handle and they won’t get whipped around by wind.

The pineapple top that I put into this mimosa tree pot last year is rooted and growing!

It took forever for it to root, months.

Has anyone grow a pineapple before? I read that growing them in pots can take up to 3 years!

Making the best of tiny orange Pumpkin Spice jalapeños with these vibrant quart jars of pickled peppers…

But I don’t think I’ll be growing them again. I’ve put up with these miniature peppers for too many years now.

Time to seek out some jumbo varieties of yellow and orange jalapeños.

The broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and Brussels sprouts transplants are all finally in the ground!

Better late than never.

A trench shovel was great for digging holes for the 4” transplants…better than bending over and using a trowel.

I squeezed everything into 3 rows so that covering for a hard freeze is easier.

Fall carrots are a flop! It was still too hot when I planted the seeds and maybe 20 plants are growing now.

Planting in February is the way to go!
