We’re heading into the final weekend of the Fall Showcase of Homes, and our home in The Preserve in St. John will be open Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 PM.

There’s a lot to see inside this one.

From the open kitchen and two-story great room to the primary suite, custom wall details, and all the finishes throughout, it’s a home that’s worth taking your time walking through.

Remember when we were showing you the drywall going up at Willowbrook?

Well… look at it now. 😍

If you’ve been following along, you’ve seen quite a bit of this custom home at 10231 Willowbrook in Schererville.

You saw the rooms starting to take shape, the drywall going in, the cabinetry being installed, and all those stages where you could tell things were happening, but it was still hard to picture the finished space.

And now here we are.

All those selections, decisions, and months of work have finally come together.

One of the things we love about sharing construction progress is that you get to see more than just the finished photos. You get to see what it actually takes to get there.

And when we finally get to show you the finished home, you can appreciate just how much has changed.

We’re pretty excited about how this one turned out, and we’re glad we got to bring you along through so much of the build.

Right now, this home is still under construction.

But imagine what this front door could look like next Halloween. 🎃

Pumpkins on the porch. A bowl of candy by the door. Kids running up the walkway in their costumes. Maybe a few Halloween decorations that went up a little earlier than planned.

And inside? A family making their first fall memories in a home they spent months planning and watching come together.

That’s a pretty fun thing to think about when we’re standing in front of a home that isn’t quite finished yet.

We spend so much time talking about floor plans, construction progress, and all the decisions that go into building custom homes throughout Northwest Indiana.

But eventually, the construction ends, the keys are handed over, and people start living their lives in these spaces.

And that’s when the really good stuff begins.

Now we have to ask: Are you the house that goes ALL OUT for Halloween, or do you keep it simple with a few pumpkins?

Are we bringing these warmer colors back? Because we’re here for it. 🤎

Take a look inside 13425 Waterleaf.

The whites, beiges, browns, and warmer finishes throughout this home give it such a comfortable feel. Nothing is competing for attention, but the different tones keep the rooms from feeling flat.

For years, we’ve seen a lot of bright white interiors and cooler gray finishes. And while those can still look beautiful, there’s something about bringing a little warmth back into a home.

You don’t necessarily need bold colors to make a room feel inviting.

Sometimes it’s the warmer wood tones, softer whites, creamy cabinetry, or the way different neutral shades work together.

That’s one of the things we enjoy about custom home design. Every homeowner has their own preferences, and the finishes they choose can completely change the personality of a space.

This Northwest Indiana home is a great example of how beautiful a warmer color palette can be.

Do I need to own land before I talk to a builder?

Nope.

In fact, talking with your builder before buying a lot can be really helpful.

The land you choose can affect the type of home you build, where it sits, the driveway, utilities, site work and even parts of the floor plan. A lot that looks perfect at first glance may have things you’ll want to understand before making it yours.

At Dabrowski Construction, we can talk through what you’re looking for, what you hope to build and what to consider while looking at lots in Northwest Indiana.

And sometimes, we may already have available lots that fit what you have in mind.

So if “we don’t own land yet” is the thing keeping you from starting the conversation, it doesn’t have to.

This home in The Preserve has been thoughtfully planned from the first floor up.

The primary suite is on the main level with a large walk-in closet and laundry connected right where you need it. The kitchen opens into the great room with a large island, generous pantry and wood floors running through the main gathering space.

But it’s the details that start making it feel like your home.

9944 Corydalis is such a good example of that. 🏡

As a build gets closer to being finished, you start noticing all the decisions that were made along the way, the finishes, textures, trim, lighting and little design choices that give each room its own personality.

Some are things you notice immediately.

Others are the things you appreciate more after you’ve lived there for a while.

That’s one of our favorite parts about building custom homes in Northwest Indiana. Even when we build in the same neighborhood, no two homes have to feel exactly alike.

There are a lot of homes behind this picture.

But there are also years of work, long days, lessons learned, relationships built and a whole lot of people who have trusted us along the way.

Lance and Sandy have built Dabrowksi Construction around something pretty simple: build homes they’re proud to put their name on and treat people the way they’d want to be treated.

That means being involved. Answering the questions. Walking the job sites. Working through the decisions. And caring about what happens between the first conversation and the day the keys are handed over.

Building custom homes throughout Northwest Indiana has given us the chance to meet so many families, work alongside some incredibly talented trades and partners, and watch ideas on paper become places where people actually live their lives.

That’s something we never want to take for granted.
