PSA: When buying a new home built in the last 10 years, check the topsoil depth by digging a hole 8-12 inches deep to ensure adequate yard and landscape quality. Contact your contractor if you find only a thin layer of topsoil over clay and rock, and request they fix this before closing. There is no reason for such poor quality in new houses.
