Before and after of a completely rotten over head 200 amp service on a beach house now an underground fed service. Several months of planning due to house being a beach vacation rental and the underground had to be directional bored. Coordinating the county permit/inspection, Santee Cooper construction team and the bore crew. All to start and finish while rental was blocked for construction. Monday morning early start de-energize. Tuesday morning inspection and re-energize. All tear down, rebuild, bored feed, line work complete. Big thanks to the guys from Santee Cooper for really coming out in this short window along with this weather. If your service looks anything like this give us a call! Done by a very large franchised electrical contractor at a premium price… If you can’t identify what’s wrong with this picture please put the tools down and walk away. Saturday Service call for what was supposed to be no power to an HVAC disconnect that feeds 2 compressors. Home owner came into town and 2 of 4 hvac systems not running. Called hvac company… hvac company says call electrician.. common occurrence. Figured quick call bad breaker or some relatively easy repair… well… this 50 year old panel had left leg terminal lug burned and the neutral and right terminal lug were so loose it’s amazing they were not burned as well. Buss connection where breaker feeding hvac was positioned was burned and breaker had one leg connection burned out of it. Odd thing is this house has 400 amp service. The 50 year old panel next to it was all tight and normal. It’s like it sat here 50 plus years loose and somehow never had an issue or someone at some point loosened these studs and didn’t retorque them. This panel is currently turned off. Full panel replacement for Monday morning and the left one and all rotten hvac disconnects being replaced later this month. This hvac call saved this house. Lights flickering when I showed up and all you could hear standing in front of panel was “snap crackle and pop”…
